About Customer
DP World, headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a multinational logistics company with a key service range covering cargo logistics, port terminal operations, maritime services, and free trade zones. The company was established in 2005 through the merger of Dubai Ports Authority and Dubai Ports International.
DP World efficiently manages an impressive volume of 70 million containers annually, transported by approximately 70,000 vessels. This represents approximately 10% of the total global container traffic. With its extensive network of 82 marine and inland terminals spanning over 40 countries, they have become a prominent player in the industry. While initially operating as a global port operator, DP World has expanded its reach along the value chain through strategic acquisitions since 2016.
Business Problem
The operation and management of over 57 terminals posed significant challenges in terms of data handling, collection, and accessibility. One major obstacle was the absence of a centralized system to oversee and consolidate all data and inventory. Each terminal maintained its data, lacking a unified view of the entire operation.
This led to a range of inefficiencies and complications in day-to-day operations. Yard space management suffered from inefficiencies, resulting in suboptimal utilization. Arranging truck visits became a lengthy process, causing delays and disruptions. Cargo tracking proved to be inefficient, hindering timely and accurate information flow. Inaccurate billing practices added to the complexity, creating differences in financial processes.
The absence of a centralized system and the subsequent lack of synchronized processes contributed to inefficiencies and hindered optimal performance in various aspects of terminal operations.
Solution
To address the challenges, we proposed a centralized and governed data environment by implementing a centralized data warehouse for all the ports.
Through the centralized data warehouse, we have effectively gathered and accumulated data from various sources, including SAP systems, subsidiary companies, Oracle databases, terminal operating systems (TOS), and eCommerce systems. This integration of diverse data sources has created a unified data environment that ensures the accuracy, consistency, and security of information.
Our solution utilized BryteFlow, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, PowerApps, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Power BI to create a seamless data management and analytics pipeline. The technology stack ensured efficient data transformation, storage, and visualization, resulting in informed decision-making and driving operational excellence.
Benefits
By establishing a unified data repository, we have enabled seamless data integration, eliminating silos and providing a comprehensive view of operations.
Better Yard Utilization: By implementing a centralized data warehouse, the client experienced improved yard space management, optimizing the utilization of available space.
Operational Efficiency: The centralized data warehouse streamlined day-to-day operations, reducing complexities and inefficiencies in truck visit arrangements, cargo tracking, and resource allocation.
Better Resource Utilization: With access to comprehensive and real-time data, the client was able to optimize resource allocation, ensuring that staff and equipment were utilized efficiently, leading to increased productivity.
Centralized Governance For All The Ports: The implementation of a centralized data warehouse provided a unified platform for managing and governing data across multiple ports.
Better Decision-Making: Key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics derived from the centralized data warehouse allowed for proactive decision-making and effective strategic planning.
Reduced Overhead: The streamlined processes and improved efficiency led to reduced overhead costs for the client.
By creating a governed data environment, we have eliminated inefficiencies, improved operational processes, and provided our clients with the tools they need to thrive in a data-driven world.
In Our Customers’ Words
Real pleasure consulting with Kenexai to set up our company’s entire data warehouse and dashboards on AWS. I will definitely be reaching out to them for future work to be done. Our project was effective and 100% achieved what I planned to do in the beginning, in a shorter time frame and with less effort than I expected.

CCR Data perform complex data migrations, we needed and extra pair of hands to restore an Oracle database and transfer the data to a Microsoft SQL database ready for our migration analysts to do their stuff. We would not hesitate in recommending or using Kenexai again and would be happy to outsource bigger projects to them in the future.

I have used RA on numerous occasions over the past 2 years, specifically with Nitesh Solanki for the delivery on PDI ETL jobs. I am very happy with him and the high level of quality work he has provided. He seems to be available all the time and works extremely hard to deliver high quality solutions.
